CRINGE but do it anyway

This morning, while captaining the carpool to middle school, a local DJ on one of my favorite radio stations (93.3 if you must know) dropped a great fact.

Matt Maeson, who sings the song “Cringe” (which was a #1 Billboard song this summer), started his music career playing at an open-mic night at a Chick-Fil-A.

Big leap from playing in front of people enjoying chicken sandwich combos to sold out ampitheater shows.

The point is…

Sometimes the work we need to do to push forward will make us cringe. (See what I did there?)

We are not in control of TIMING.

We are in control of POSITIONING.

Put in the work to do what we love to do.

When timing happens, big breakthroughs ocurr.

If they haven’t happened yet, don’t give youreslf an excuse to quit or to stop. Keep “grinding,” work hard, be inspired to do what you want to do because you WANT to do it, not for the results down-the-line.

Grind on my friends!

Stop should-ing all over yourself

I heard something great in church this weekend.

“We need to stop should-ing 💩 all over ourselves!”

I loved it!

If you are exercising, reading, eating well, in a relationship, etc, because you feel you “should” be….stop!

Guilt is a repressor, not a motivator.

Instead, find reasons why you WANT to do those things. If you want to do them to form a brighter future, for instance, latch on to that, and let go of the “should.”

Have a monumental Monday, friends!

Thank you for sharing these, Ashley! They are so true and the fit so well together!

If you want to truly feel ALIVE, you must be healthy.

The best way to start living a healthier life? START BY STARTING.

Eating well, thinking well, moving well, exercise, diet, mentality, all of these can seem daunting…

The best thing to do is take a small step toward a healthier, more meaningFULL life is to start.

Happy steps my friends!

CONSISTENCY

Thanks for sharing this today, Jessica! It is from Oprah’s book: The Path Made Clear and it is great!

We forge our character, our futures, and our very lives through consistency.

You may not realize all that you are consistently doing right now. But whatever those thoughts and actions are, they have lead you to the life you live now.

You can always change your habits, develop or improve on your consistency in the areas you want to experience growth in order to live a more fulfilling life!

And the whole wide world is whistling…

I love this song “Pumping Blood” by NONONO.
Great pick me up song. And a great reminder: you are alive, and ready to do some amazing things! Have an awesome Monday!

Here’s a link to YouTube video with lyrics:

https://youtu.be/PzjYlcE8xgY

“Hey heart, on the road again
Moving on
Forward
See the stars, won’t break the bones
They’re in the car
On the highway
It’s so magical, feeling, that no one’s got a hold
Your heart can list the all, happiness you know
This is your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
It’s your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
And the whole wide world is whistling
And it’s whistling
Hey heart, on the run again
Drive is strong
Anywhere
Stick and stones won’t take his course
It’s got the ball
And it fits it
It’s the best of world’s feeling, like nothing can go wrong
You’re the saddle of the world, you get to know
‘Cause it’s your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
It’s your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
And the whole wide world is whistling
Hey heart, won’t you run again
On a highway
On a highway
Hey heart, won’t you run again
On a highway
On a highway
This is your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
It’s your heart, it’s alive
It’s pumping blood
And the whole wide world is whistling
Is whistling
And it’s whistling
And it’s whistling”

Obstacles are meant to be overcome

“Remember, if everything came easy we wouldn’t know what it felt like to truly succeed. Obstacles are meant to be overcome. Fear is meant to be conquered. Success is meant to be achieved.
Believe. Take Action. Play to Win Today.” Jon Gordon
Thank you, Jessica for sharing this today!
A long time ago, my brother and I talked about life’s obstacles were like hurdles, and we coined a phrase to help each other along: “Just Keep Jumping.”
Jump over your obstacles to a brighter future!

Always Learning

IMG_9474.jpg

Every experience provides us with an opportunity to learn.

Happy, sad, traumatic, exhilarating… they all allow us to gain knowledge, on what to do if/when we are presented with a similar situation in the future.

Take some time to understand and revel in each experience, knowing no matter what, we will emerge better and more wise 🙂

Happy Wednesday!

“When a team has camaraderie and clarity, progress is inevitable.”

SO VERY true!

A couple of keys here…

Who is on your “team”?

Your life is full of different groups of people. Your family, your friends, your co-workers, and your mentors.

Make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who can lift you up, push you to excel and share a common vision.

When you can gather these teams, enjoy each other, work to improve together, support one another with clarity, there is no way to go but up.

When you have the right support environment, you will be propelled toward your dreams.

Surround yourself with the good peeps, my friends :)!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

The power of your mind

Thank you Ashley, for sharing this today from The DailyOm.

“The power of the mind is a curious thing, because it is so powerful yet so difficult to control sometimes. We find ourselves thinking a certain way, knowing that this thought may be creating trouble for us yet we find it difficult to stop. For example, many people have the experience of getting sick at the same time every year or every time they go on a plane. They may even be aware that their beliefs impact their experiences, so continue to think they will get sick and they do.”

What we think about, we bring about.

And we can get “stuck” in thought patterns that bring about predictable (positive or negative) results.

The key, then, is to realize these patterns and work to change them.

We must be conscious of our thoughts to reprogram these patterns to bring about desired results.

In other words, we must be Purposely Positive (shameless book plug) in order to forge the lives we truly want to create!

Get busy forging 🙂

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Better for the rest

I’ve been jamming to Macklemore lately.

I really like the song: Excavate

He talks about how he measures success through his impact on the world and his daughter, not accolades, awards or etc.

I love it.

One of my favorite stanzas:

“The greatest fear that I’ve ever kept is dying with regrets.

Like was I just alive for success

Or did I leave a better life for the rest?”

I love that thought!

This morning, I was watching birds come and go to the bird feeder outside. They swooped in, swooped out, squabbled, nit picked and dropped a bunch of seeds on the ground. Later, a squirrel came up and started eating the seeds from the ground.

I doubt the birds planned to feed the squirrel. But as humans. I do feel that our lives should at least be in part about making the word better for those who come after us.

I am grateful for my amazing life, and I am grateful that I can decode to try to leave the world better for those who come after :-).
