Happiness-as stated by the Bassoon King-Rainn Wilson

“Happiness is not something “just around the corner” or “over the hill” or something that can be enjoyed as soon as you have a certain level of material comfort. It’s a moment-to-moment choice. Joy and contentment come from daily, hourly, minutely, secondly decisions to be grateful for what you have. With every breath. Savoring every moment. Focusing on the good. On service to others. On the sacred, whatever that word means to you. Happy?”

Paradox of Intention

This is a great video! I love the simple concept that is so VITAL to success and fulfillment. We must be happy in the now and have big dreams of the future. It is so easy to get skewed one way or the other, i.e big dreams of the future/big vision, but not happy now, or to be content now and forget to have big vision. This is great!

Invictus is an amazing poem by William Ernest Henley. Nelson Mandela recited the poem to his fellow captives to remind them that their futures remain up to them.

I discovered the “song” on accident (basically Morgan Freeman’s reading of the poem set to some cool music) Search for “Written featuring Nev and MF.”

Most of us don’t have such troubles, but it bears repeating that you are the master of your fate and you are the captain of your soul!

Tidbits from National Achiever’s Congress

Thursday, my Office Manager extraordinairre and I attended the National Achievers Congress in Denver. It was great! 2 great, inspiring quotes/things that I took away:

“The odds of you even existing are 400 trillion to one (that’s the odds of being born). You are more likely to win the megamillions lottery 5 times than to be born in the first place”-Gary Vaynerchuk
“Whatever your goals are, what you are really after is the feeling(s) you will get when you achieve those goals. So why not start with working on getting that feeling now, and then achieving goals become a product rather than the end.”-Tony Robbins

Love thyself

“I do not trust people who don’t love themselves and yet tell me, ‘I love you.’ There is an African saying which is: Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt.”- Maya Angelou

“Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come.”-Henri Nouwen

I loved both of these quotes today, our days are defined by the second quote, can we answer YES to these questions? The key to being able to do so is making sure our reservoirs are full, and the way we fill that up is through self-love, self-compassion. Set some time aside each day to ensure you are filling your tank up so that you have love to give :)!

Lead thyself

No matter what “station” you are currently at in life, you are a leader. You lead yourself in your life whether consciously or subconsciously; and if you are not doing so with intent and purpose toward a brighter future, you may not like where you ultimately lead yourself to.

Make a conscious effort today (and everyday) to decide where you want to go, and then get busy leading thyself.
