Break the chains of mediocrity!

“BECAUSE IF YOU LEAVE YOUR GROWTH TO HAPPENSTANCE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE CHAINED TO MEDIOCRITY.”-BRENDON BURCHARD

This statement is so true!

As a new year begins to gain traction, we tend to have big dreams for big changes.

The problem is we don’t STRATEGIZE (I’m making it a word for today, ok?) enough on how to achieve them.

Plan your work and work your plan.

Have BIG goals, (powered by HUGE WHYS/motivation to achieve them) but chunk up the HOW you are going to cross those finish lines.

Take time to envision the end result, but even more time to work on the processes of getting there.

In reality, that is truly where the joy lives, in the journey.

Get planning my friends!

Persistence and the law of repetition

It’s a new year!

Time to set goals, dream big, change our lives…. and hopefully these intentions last past Jan 31st.

The biggest problem with resolutions (and therefore their failure) is that we set big, daunting goals that would require big, daunting changes in order to accomplish them.

As Ovid says, persistence is the key to lasting change.

If you want to accomplish something big, you are better off breaking it down into smaller chunks.

Want to exercise an hour everyday but you haven’t done so in years? Start with 5 minutes and work your way up.

The first step is the most meaningful on any journey. And each step after the first one can be all the more meaningful if we visualize them as ANOTHER first step.

Repetition and persistence are the keys to true growth.

Happy first-steps!

Thank you for sharing these, Ashley! They are so true and the fit so well together!

If you want to truly feel ALIVE, you must be healthy.

The best way to start living a healthier life? START BY STARTING.

Eating well, thinking well, moving well, exercise, diet, mentality, all of these can seem daunting…

The best thing to do is take a small step toward a healthier, more meaningFULL life is to start.

Happy steps my friends!

CONSISTENCY

Thanks for sharing this today, Jessica! It is from Oprah’s book: The Path Made Clear and it is great!

We forge our character, our futures, and our very lives through consistency.

You may not realize all that you are consistently doing right now. But whatever those thoughts and actions are, they have lead you to the life you live now.

You can always change your habits, develop or improve on your consistency in the areas you want to experience growth in order to live a more fulfilling life!

Talk to yourself…

IMG_1380.jpg

I love this from the book: Authentic Happiness (find it here on Amazon).

It is so true, that when others speak to us harshly or criticize us, we arm ourselves with retort to defend.

But when we speak that way to ourselves (which happens all the time), we fail to rebuke.

A friend, and fellow doctor said this once at a speech (I quoted him in my book, Purposely Positive: How to Live an Intentional and Inspired Life) “If you heard someone talking to your spouse the way you talk to yourself, you’d kick their ass.”-Dr. Brent Hendon.

Ain’t that the truth?

We constantly chide ourselves and hold ourselves down.

Constructive criticism is one thing, but change that “Con” to “De” and all we do is tear ourselves apart.

Start noticing the negative things you say to yourself, act as if someone else is saying them, and then prepare to fight back.

You are worthy!

-Happy Monday!

Contribute to your happiness by contributing to others

When we contribute, give, show compassion to others, we actually change our internal chemistry for the better.

The act of giving creates a ple thora of positive/feel good hormones to be released in our own bodies as well as in those of the receiver.

So when you give to others, you give to yourself 🙂

Happy Monday!
