Twice

This weekend we had a wonderful family trip to Steamboat Springs. We love it there and try to go at least once a year.

I received the top image in an email and the bottom one I saw while walking through the town to dinner.

Both similar and both amazing.

Our legacy is truly written on the hearts and souls of others, not in any bank account, record book or etc.

And while living here on Earth, before we pass on, heaven is at our fingertips, and the way we experience it is to show compassion and love to others.

In doing so, we experience warmth, love and heaven inside.

(Maybe Belinda Carlisle was on to something with her 80’s hit: Heaven is a place on earth 😎)

Have a momentous Monday!

Gratitude = POWER

IMG_0094.PNG

This popped up as a “memory” in Facebook this morning.

This is a great quote and so true.

When we start from a position of gratitude, we are powerful beings.

I am thankful for all I have, who I am, who I am surrounded by, and the beautiful world I live in.

Sometimes, I lose track of how amazing life is (when stress gets in the way for example).

When I do that, my energy is drained, I make poor decisions and I am not growing.

Getting back into a position of gratitude refuels my batteries and gives me strength to conquer any challenge, and indeed grow!

Power on!

Your “obstacles” create paths for others

IMG_9415.jpg

When you are going through a tough time, remember 2 things:

  1. You are never given anything you cannot handle in life, and when you climb the obstacle, others will learn from your amazing example.
  2. More than likely, someone has been in similar shoes before, and they got through the hardship as well.

Keep climbing my friends!

Some messages bear repeating…

This morning I received this message from Simon Sinek’s daily email:

When we have a clear sense of where we’re going, we are flexible in how we get there.

And then from The Best Self company email (they also make great planners)

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”
– Steve Jobs

Sense a pattern?

The key is to have big dreams/goals but we need to be flexible on how they come to fruition.

When we focus on the process and enjoy the ride, we will achieve what we dream.

Have a fun Monday!

Melded minds

Today, Jessica shared with us this great quote:

“What you leave behind is not engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”-Pericles

I love this quote… and it was SUPER CRAZY that I actually sent the exact quote out to my inspirational text group this morning (she is not a part of that group).

Just goes to show we needed to hear and share that sentiment today!

Let’s all make our goals today to impact others in a loving, compassionate way. Let’s weave some magic into their lives 🙂

The power of your mind

Thank you Ashley, for sharing this today from The DailyOm.

“The power of the mind is a curious thing, because it is so powerful yet so difficult to control sometimes. We find ourselves thinking a certain way, knowing that this thought may be creating trouble for us yet we find it difficult to stop. For example, many people have the experience of getting sick at the same time every year or every time they go on a plane. They may even be aware that their beliefs impact their experiences, so continue to think they will get sick and they do.”

What we think about, we bring about.

And we can get “stuck” in thought patterns that bring about predictable (positive or negative) results.

The key, then, is to realize these patterns and work to change them.

We must be conscious of our thoughts to reprogram these patterns to bring about desired results.

In other words, we must be Purposely Positive (shameless book plug) in order to forge the lives we truly want to create!

Get busy forging 🙂

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Better for the rest

I’ve been jamming to Macklemore lately.

I really like the song: Excavate

He talks about how he measures success through his impact on the world and his daughter, not accolades, awards or etc.

I love it.

One of my favorite stanzas:

“The greatest fear that I’ve ever kept is dying with regrets.

Like was I just alive for success

Or did I leave a better life for the rest?”

I love that thought!

This morning, I was watching birds come and go to the bird feeder outside. They swooped in, swooped out, squabbled, nit picked and dropped a bunch of seeds on the ground. Later, a squirrel came up and started eating the seeds from the ground.

I doubt the birds planned to feed the squirrel. But as humans. I do feel that our lives should at least be in part about making the word better for those who come after us.

I am grateful for my amazing life, and I am grateful that I can decode to try to leave the world better for those who come after :-).

Uncertainty

scotland

Jessica contributed this wonderful piece from the Daily OM newsletter today.

“Challenge and experience are what life is truly about, and if we allow ourselves to live tentatively, we will be missing out on a wealth of encounters. So today allow yourself to live fully, teach yourself to appreciate the uncertainty as a time of unlimited possibilities, indulge yourself in the suspense of life and let the surprises of your own story unfurl before you.”

I love this!

uncertainty = unlimited possibilities!

Don’t aim for success or happiness

“Don’t aim at success-the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue…as the unintended side effect of ones personal dedication to a course greater than oneself.”-Victor Frankl “Man’s Search For Meaning” and reprinted in the book below.

The most powerful investment

This is from “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.

I love it!

We need to forge our legacy. We are our greatest instrument, and when we put work into “sharpening that saw” as Mr. Covey puts it, we create a better masterpiece.

-Let’s get busy sharpening!
