Red light = invitation

We’ve all done it.

We are in a hurry, trying to get to work, get home, meet a friend, etc and a red light pops up forcing us to stop.

We huff and puff and allow frustration to take hold.

But what if we change that mindset (it is entirely up to us after all)?

What if we allow the red light to be an invitation?

An invitation to breathe. To reconnect to the present, to pause.

We are so busy driving toward the future, we forget to savor the present.

Maybe the red lights are there to invite us to relax, and to remind us to savor the moment we are in.

Flip your mindset.

Enjoy the pauses that are “forced” upon you.

And have a happy Tuesday!

Wildfire

On December 30th, 2021 our community was shaken by tragedy.

A brush fire, fueled by 100 mph wind gusts, quickly evolved into fear, mayhem and devastation.

Over 900 structures burned, many of which were completely destroyed.

People were forced to evacuate their homes, and told to only grab clothing for a few nights, important documents, and flee.

It has been a tragic ending to 2021 and a devastating beginning for so many to 2022. So many coping with “what do I do now?” “How can we re-build our lives?”

This event is a reminder of how quickly things can change, in a flash.

My family and I are OK, our home is ok, my business is ok, our school is ok. So many people (including friends) were not as fortunate.

I know the community will come together to help rebuild, regenerate and re-grow.

You can help too.

To start, anyone and everyone can help by putting more love into the world. And love is the ONLY thing that can truly overcome devastation.

If you wish to donate, please go to this website: https://www.commfound.org/grants/get-grant/Boulder-County-Wildfire-Fund

Again, hold your loved ones tight, spread compassion whenever you can (positivity can spread faster than fire can) and make today the best you can.

Love to you and yours,

Dr Lindeman

Your mind matters

This is a snapshot from: It Takes What it Takes by Trevor Moawad

I really like the book and I thought this was powerful.

Your thoughts exert incredible influence in your daily life.

Sometimes you can’t control your thoughts, negative things, judgmental thoughts, etc will pop up. However, you can decide how much emphasis to place in those thoughts and you can always re-frame the next thought as a rebuttal to the negative.

You can always decide to focus on the positives in your current reality instead of false negatives.

You are the captain of your ship and you can choose to steer wisely, toward a more positive future.

Happy sailing!

Have a fantastic day!

Small steps

How I started using baby steps to bring about positive change in my life | by Adam Kruger | Ascent Publication

“Small steps may appear unimpressive, but don’t be deceived. They are the means by which perspectives are subtly altered, mountains are gradually scaled, and lives are drastically changed.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich, Making Wishes: Quotes, Thoughts, & a Little Poetry for Every Day of the Year

I think that many times, when we look at where we want to go in our lives, we can become discouraged at the GAP between here and there.

We make the HUGE mistake of focusing on the end result, way out in the distance (and many times, that “finish line” continues to move further away as our aspirations change as well) instead of realizing the only way we will get there is to put one foot in front of the other in that general direction.

I use the word general on purpose, because I also believe we make the mistake of thinking from here to there will be a straight line…

It is never a straight line…

So today, do two major (minor) things:

  1. Take a baby step in the general direction of where you want to go, and who you want to be.
  2. Realize you may veer a bit right or left, up or down toward the horizon

Do both of these things, and then when you lay your head down tonight, know you have succeeded this Wednesday!

The Power of Positive Summit

So, if you’ve read anything I’ve ever written, you probably know I’m a believer in finding the positive, and that positivity is a choice.

That’s why I LOVE what Jon Gordon and his team put together once a year.

Check it out here: https://www.powerofpositivesummit.com

There are a lot of bite-sized inspirational talks, given by people from all walks of life (coaches, speakers, charity founders, teachers) and they are wonderful.

Some of my favorite quotes so far:

“You don’t choose your negative thoughts but you can choose not to listen to them”-Jay Glazer

“The best way to win the day is to win the moment. Moments turn into days, days into weeks and weeks into years.”-Doshia Woods

“Unshakeable confidence isn’t about the results. It’s about self awareness.”-David Nurse

“It’s not always the path of least resistance that gets you where you want to go, it’s the path that’s worth taking”-Sam Acho

“When we focus on honoring others as our mission in life, differences fade. Prejudice becomes a foreign concept.”- Miles McPherson

There are a LOT more. You should definitely check it out.

You most likely will find something there to help fuel you daily, and I guarantee it will make your Tuesday a little happier!

Worthy of the Miracle of Life

Because, once we have overcome the defeats-and we always do-we are filled by a greater sense of euphoria and confidence. In the silence of our hearts, we know that we are proving ourselves worthy of the miracle of life.”-Paulo Coelho, Rio de janeiro, Novemebr 2002 (from the forward in The Alchemist)

I love this book!

I have read it a few times already and am re-reading again.

Such a simple, but moving story about following your soul’s purpose, especially when you aren’t even sure exactly what that purpose is. As long as you are doing things in life that light you up a bit, that make you feel antsy inside but also warmth, you are on the right track.

The key is to do something, anything that lights you up a bit inside. Follow the “omens” as Paulo describes them, and you will find happiness, in fact you will CREATE happiness, in your life.

I highly recommend this brief read (multiple times).

Have a fantastic Tuesday!

LEAD

You may have a “title” that infers leadership.

Manager, Shift-lead, Owner, President, Teacher, etc…

You also may not have such a title.

The title doesn’t make the leader.

Anyone can (and should) lead.

The world sorely needs people to lead with grace, courage, love, empathy, compassion, integrity, inspiration, and by example.

I (like MANY others) would gladly step in to follow people that embody the above virtues.

So, don’t look around for someone to do so.

Don’t wait until some magical title is bestowed upon you.

BE a leader by being your best self.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

A date and its power

Now, admittedly this is kinda funny.

We all want to end 2020.

But what boggles my imagination (shot out to my father in law for that phrase) is that people tend to think one date will change their world for the better.

They are 100% correct.

But, (you knew that was coming), the date doesn’t have to be January 1….

The sun setting, moon rising, sun rising again on January 1st is no different than on June 22nd.

So…a day does have power, you can change for the better with a flip or a tear of the calendar page.

Just realize if you didn’t commit and execute it tonight, it is NO EXCUSE to not commit and execute on June 22nd.

You always can decide to change for the better (or worse). The decision isn’t made or set in stone tonight.

In fact, I hope we all choose to improve multiple times throughout the year, regardless of date. 🙂

Happy New Year!

You cannot be too big to do the small things…

A little tongue-in-cheek but the message rings true.

If you have big dreams and aspire to accomplish a lot, you most definitely need to pay attention to how you do the “little things.”

In fact, the path toward a huge success is over with hundreds/thousands of small steps.

And if you can’t devote attention, drive and passion to the little steps, the big success will always remain just a dream.

Get busy on the little things today 🙂

Happy Monday

-Dr Lindeman

Friendly reminder

You are NEVER given anything you can’t handle.

Proof? You are reading this right now.

You will always presented with obstacles, or as my brother likes to call them “hurdles” in life.

They key is to just keep jumping. (Or in some cases, if that hurdle is meant for a giant, find another way around, under or through)

I truly hope you are not in the middle a huge tumultuous storm in your life right now, but if you are, I also hope you realize you have exactly what it takes to overcome, and to get to the calm on the other side.

You are THE ONLY person capable of living your amazing, exciting and challenging life.

Have an amazing Monday!
