Let’s pretend…

I love this quote.

Substitute “sales” for any word you want really and it still rings true.

The key to happiness/success/a positive life is to help others feel important.

Seriously.

That’s the key.

A wonderful side effect is that in doing so, you feel better yourself too.

Have a wonderful, IMPORTANT day 🙂

Happy Wednesday!

What you give, you get (in SPADES)

“The more people you inspire, the more people will inspire you.”-Simon Sinek

This goes right along with “what goes around, comes around.”

You can substitute the word inspire for almost any other word.

The more people you love, the more people will love you.

The more people you say hi to, the more people will say hi to you.

The more people you laugh with, the more people will laugh with you.

The more people you are angry at, the more people will be angry at you.

The more people you hate, the more people will hate you.

It really is a “Choose your own adventure” kind of thing (don’t know if you all remember those books, or maybe MadLibs?)

The point is, the best way to improve your mental and emotional state is to provide that to others.

If you want to be happy, put forth some happiness, it always comes back 🙂

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Control…

things i can control.jpg

So, I DEFINITELY needed this today :).

We are upgrading our x-ray unit at the office and it has been a bit of “peeling an onion of roadblocks.”

One step forward, new hurdle to jump over. One step forward, new hurdle to jump over.

I was feeling rather frustrated with it all.

Then I saw this pop up in my feed as an amazing reminder that I can only control what I can control and focusing on anything else is as useful as trying to swim through hardened cement.

If you find a pile of hurdles in front of you today (or any day), don’t look left or right, just think and attack the jump, the things you CAN control.

Have fun jumping today (I promise that if you keep bounding those hurdles, you will keep moving forward 😉

Happy Monday

Lots of starting points

This is one of my favorite new quotes. Past is in the past. We all ...

Life is full of ups and downs.

We will all strive valiantly, and we will all fail sometimes.

The key is to continue to be brave enough to restart.

At any given time we can change the trajectory of our lives (for better or for worse) by virtue of the simple decision to do so.

Decide to re-line up at the starting gate, and then take that first stride.

Even if we fall on the first step, we can always get up and re-set at the next start.

Line up. Take action. Fall.

Line up. Take action. Succeed.

Line up. Take action.

Line up.

Take action.

Line up….!

Have fun running your race today, whether it is one start and one finish or 430202143 starts, just keep lining up and taking action 😉

Happy Wendesday!

Act as if…

I know many times, we human beings can be complacent.

Sometimes it’s sheer laziness.

Sometimes, it’s because we believe that since we are only 1/7,800,000,000th of the world’s population, what we do is too small to matter.

Maybe we feel that our actions/thoughts are just drops in a gigantic bucket.

Here’s the thing though: that bucket is so full because of the other 7.8 billion thoughts/actions put their drops in there!

One small action may seem infinitesimal, but without a whole heckuva lot of them, nothing gets accomplished and the “bucket” remains empty.

Also, your actions are more-than-likely going to cause others to act as well, and that butterfly effect can create huge consequences.

So, if you are holding back on writing your book, your blog, starting your business, saying what you feel, donating what you can, etc, because you feel your impact will be too small… rethink and realize, the world NEEDS your positive input.

WE (MYSELF INCLUDED) NEED what you can give!

Your “drop” matters SO much more than you know, and you are vastly more powerful that you can imagine!

William James - Act as if what you do makes a difference....

Get busy filling that bucket!

Happy Wednesday, my friends!

Bodacious Bridge Building

I attended (via Zoom) an amazing conference this past weekend.

There were a LOT of great speakers, but one of my favorites had these two gems:

“You need to be willing to give up what you want now, for what you truly want forever” and “discipline is the bridge between our goals and achievements.” – Dr Jennifer Knobbe

It was a great reminder and impetus for me to start re-building bridges to where I truly want to go.

It’s easy to get comfortable in the moment. It’s easy to do things that make us a tiny bit happier than putting in a tiny bit more work would.

It is imperative to refresh and to re-energize in order to succeed, but there are times and places for that.

I realized I was taking breaks when I should have been working on my dreams, AND taking breaks when I was supposed to be taking breaks.

Coasting never creates momentum (unless it is downhill).

We don’t need to push ourselves so hard that we give up. But, we all know when we could use a bit more push in order to succeed, and I am truly grateful for those reminders.

Thank you Dr Knobbe (and all the other amazing speakers, many of which I will probably quote in the coming weeks 🙂

Get building those bridges!

Happy Tuesday!

NEVER GIVE UP THE BETTER…

“YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP THE BETTER THAT RESIDES WITHIN YOU FOR THE SECURITY YOU ALREADY HAVE.”- JORDAN PRESTON

reach.jpg

Strive.

Reach.

Improve.

Be better.

Don’t let your current “comfort” hold back your better self.

We should always be grateful for where we are in life, but at the same time, we should push ourselves to improve… not just for our sakes, but for the betterment of the entire world :).

Have a terrific Tuesday!

PASSION IS THE RESULT

“WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T UNDERSTAND IS THAT PASSION IS THE RESULT OF ACTION, NOT THE CAUSE OF IT.”-Mark Manson

Too often, we sit back, searching for our passion to drive us.

In reality, when we get a spark, and ignite into action, we will find our passion rekindled.

Get busy doing something, start small, a small nudge of creativity can lead to a big push of passion!

Happy Tuesday!

The intersection

CL-blog-picture.jpg

I attended an amazing seminar this weekend.

One nugget that stood out among all the other amazing diamonds of inspiration:

“Maximum growth occurs at the intersection of support and challenge.”-Dr. Russ Corey

We need both in order to truly become the best versions of ourselves.

Seek out friends/mentors that can provide both.

The people you like to be around the most are probably already fulfilling that role. Relish in their company!

If I can ever help you in wither department, don’t hesitate to reach out!!

Happy Monday!
