Getting uncomfortable to be comfy

“Happiness can be defined, in part at least, as the fruit of the desire and ability to sacrifice what we want now for what we want eventually”-Stephen R Covey

I’m sure we’ve all heard a variation of the above. The thought/truth that growth requires stepping out of ones comfort zone.

In all things. In order to grow we need to be willing to stretch.

And if you’ve ever taken the time to stretch your hamstrings, you know the beginning isn’t what one would call “comfortable.”

But in order for that all-important muscle to lengthen, we need to sit through some of that discomfort.

The same holds true for life. Growing as a person, making an upward move in your job, learning to be a better parent, Doctor or pastry chef requires stepping out from what we know now in order to become what we can be.

Happy stretching 🙂

INTENTION

service-1a
I love this inspirational message Jessica shared with us today. GIVE with giving in mind 🙂
Serve for service’s sake:)
“We are most helpful when our care comes without attachment to an outcome.
Since others can pick up on the underlying energetic intention of our care, we are therefore much more nurturing when we act according to a loving and caring purpose. Assisting others in this way today will allow you to serve from your heart, and you will find that the love you give will have greater power to heal others.”

Receiving

In a short meditation this morning, the speaker discussed the act of receiving.

It got me thinking a bit.

We are all pretty good at receiving things everyday.

We receive the breaths our body takes. We receive the sunlight on our face, the coffee into our mouths.

However, many of us are not adept at receiving others’ praise and thanks.

We push it off “No problem.” “It was nothing.”

Instead of actually receiving their “Thank you” and saying “You are very welcome.”

When we push it off, we may think we are being humble, but in fact we are denying them the ability to give their gift of thanks to us.

We are taking that gift and throwing it into the fire.

Be cognizant of accepting (graciously) the gratitude of others. Give them the gift of acceptance.

Thank you!
