Break those chains

“The chains of habit are too light to be felt, until they are too heavy to be broken.”🤔
Warren Buffet

We cannot grow into whom we want to be until we break some habits/anchors keeping us right where we are.

Break old habits, create new wonderful ones.

Examine your day today and find 1 or more habits that you know are keeping you down. Think of habits you would like to employ and create a vacuum to fill with those habits by cutting ties with the old ones.

Harmony

In the book: Grit by Angela Duckworth, she quotes Will Smith as saying “Harmony is aerodynamic.”

When we can find our passion, when we can align that passion with our work, and even more so when the vision of our team member’s/families/coworkers, our movement toward that vision becomes so much easier.

That is why it is so important to have discussions about your goals with the people on your various “teams” (work/home/etc).

When you articulate your goals and they articulate theirs, you will find common ground and that makes it all the easier to move toward that future.

Work on collaborating to become a supremely aerodynamic force today 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

Pebbles or mountains?

Pebble-in-shoe

“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out, it’s the pebble in your shoe.”
— Muhammad Ali

This quotation has been attributed to a few different people throughout the years. I do love it though, because it provides a lot of hope!

Our lofty goals don’t wear us out. We can overcome the obstacles as long as we work on OURSELVES.

What truly holds us back is within us/upon us at all times. We need to be vigilant about improving ourselves during our progress toward our dreams, because after all the practice, the progress is the goal!

P.S. Check out the latest review for Dr. Lindeman’s book: Purposely Positive

“I initially bought this book to support a colleague, but I was blown away by the content! Dr. Lindeman carefully crafts each chapter into short absorbable doses by discussing the many aspects of positivity and keeping it light hearted with his wit and humor. He reinforces each chapter with exercises so that the reader gets the most from each application! I can’t recommend highly enough if you are looking for a book that will inspire you to become your best self then this is a must read!!”- Dr. Tucker Woods

Trust the wait

“Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible.” -Mandy Hale

becoming

Thank you for today’s inspiration, Jessica.

It is sooooo very true!

We are anxious creatures, we humans.

We set goals and we want to hit them ASAP (and we substitute the “P” (Possible) for N as in “As Soon As Now”)!

The process IS the goal.

Winning a medal in the Olympics is probably amazing, but the process is what brings those amazing athletes to the podium.

Landing the ideal job is a goal, but becoming the ideal candidate for the ideal job is the true victory.

BECOMING is beautiful.

Enjoy the change.

Love the fact that you can become who you want to become 😉

Have an amazing “transitional Tuesday!”

Jessica shared 2 great inspirational statements with us this morning.

“You always get tested before you progress to the next level.”

and

“Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be.”-Kahlil Gibran.

Summation: It is where you are going that matters, and any strife you are experiencing now is merely a hurdle you must cross to keep on your path. We grow more from our obstacles than we do from our victories.

So today, Love the grind, and keep jumping those hurdles:)

Triple Whammy

In our office, we share the morning meeting floor. Meaning: I run the meeting Monday and Thursday, Jessica runs Tuesday, Ashley runs Wednesday. We go over yearly goals, daily goals, (root and fruit… root goals are our purpose, passions, focus, intent. Fruit goals are things we can measure to see how well we are tending to our root goals) Miracle Moments (things patients say about how well we have impacted their lives, for instance Ed C stated yesterday that this past weekend was the first weekend he was able to sit through church without excruciating pain in months), and whomever is running the meeting brings an inspirational quote, song, poem, etc as well.

This week has been different. We still have one meeting leader, but each of us have been bringing inspirational things (we haven’t set 2nd quarter goals yet, we have our 2nd quarter meeting Monday after the seminar we are attending this weekend).

So, without further ado, here are the three motivational things we shared today:

Ashley:

Me:

Paraphrased from the book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear:

A University of Florida photography professor divided his groups into 2 groups. Group 1 would be graded on the quantity of pictures they took (100) and group 2 would be graded on the quality of pictures they took (1 each). Conventional wisdom would say group 2 would take the best picture because they could focus on it more, while group 1 would probably spend time taking pictures of their friends’ feet or etc. At the end of the semester, the professor found group 1 had much better pictures than group 2. Why? They were able to experiment, enjoy taking multiple pictures and learn from their mistakes.

Takeaway: Have fun attempting new things, there aren’t any failures, just learning experiences toward your best YOU!

Grit not grade…and ice cubes

Too often we place our emphasis on our goals. Goals are incredibly important but we should put more impetus on the grit it takes to progress toward the goal. And when we get close to a goal, we need to create new ones. Progress is key not the finish line.

“Complaining about not achieving success despite working hard is like complaining about an ice cube not melting when you heated it from twenty-five to thirty-one degrees. Your work is not wasted; it is just being stored. All the action happens at thirty-two degrees.” James Clear “Atomic Habits”
